School Meals Provision
The government has introduced a new initiative which will take effect from September 2014. All children in Reception class, Class 1 and Class 2 will be eligible for a FREE school meal each day. If you would like your child to have a school meal then you will need to fill in the School Meal Request Form that will be in your child’s assignment book each week. This form will need to be completed ready for each Monday. If you do not wish your child to have a school meal then please provide them with a packed lunch in the usual way.
If you have children in Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 please order school meals in advance on a Monday in the usual way.
The cost of a school dinner is £2.25 a day or £11.25 a week. Please make cheques payable to Debden C of E Primary Academy. All meals must be ordered and paid for on a Monday. Cambridgeshire Catering have introduced a new policy on meals ordered for children who go home sick. Any meals that are ordered by children who subsequently go home ill will be charged for if the kitchen is informed of their absence after 11am.
In order to help us prepare meals it is useful to know about any specific dietary requirements. If your child has any specific requirements, including vegetarianism, please can you inform the school office.
We only accept dinner money and orders on a Monday, this is because we have a designated member of staff working on this day just to deal with the many envelopes we receive. However, we do still have many children coming into school with no dinner money or packed lunch. If your child comes into school expecting to have a school dinner but has no dinner money a phone call will be made asking you to bring a packed lunch in to school for your child.
If you order a meal for your child and they are absent the money will be carried over to the following week, similarly we do not send change home, this money is carried over in the same way.
